Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Act


Iran is one of the countries with high potentials for foreign investment in various fields both regionally and globally. During the decades after the Islamic revolution, the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken the policy of encouraging foreign investments in different fields of energy, industry, agriculture and services. This policy resulted in new enactments and revisions of the existing laws and regulations. As of 2002, foreign investment in Iran is regulated by the “Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Act”. The Act regulates all the aspects of foreign investments, including applications for investment, advantages and guarantees granted to investors, obligations of the investors and the host state, etc. The English official version of the Act are accessible here.
